About Us
At Flourish! our holistic approach to mental health recognizes it is hard to be a human navigating our current modern challenges – and even harder to do it alone.
Our holistic approach to mental health is unique because we view mental health difficulties as more than just psychological. You hold psychological, physical and spiritual parts and experiences. We take the time to get to know all of your parts rather than solely focusing on a diagnosis. This holistic perspective to therapy means better outcomes and sustainable wellness.
Clinical social worker, mindful human and founder of Flourish!
Although I earned my Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Texas, my path was anything but linear. For a brief season, I pursued a career in the rising new wave music scene of the 1980s. But that world of late nights and drugs did not align with who I was becoming.
From there, I moved into technology, where I spent time solving business problems and building practical solutions. Yet even then, something deeper in me knew I had not arrived where I was meant to be. The work was valuable, but it did not feel meaningful in the way I longed for.
That inner wisdom eventually led me back to social work, back to working directly with people in need. Today, I am endlessly fascinated by mindfulness, the mind-body connection, and holistic approaches to mental health treatment. It is deeply fulfilling to know that what we do at Flourish helps people feel better about themselves, more connected in their relationships, and more capable of living with clarity, purpose, and peace.
My Story
The Behind the Scenes of Flourish
Before Flourish was ever a practice, it was a deeply personal journey.
I was a single mom focused on creating a stable, secure life for my child, so for a time, I put my dream of graduate school on hold. When I was finally ready to return to that path, my life was interrupted by being in the World Trade Center on September 11th.
Yes, I’m a survivor.
9/11 is a day I will never forget.
In that moment, instinct took over. I put on my first responder hat, grabbed a coworker by the hands, and ran. Like so many others, I did what I had to do to survive. But as many trauma survivors know, surviving the moment is only one part of the story. The effects of trauma can live on in the body long after the danger has passed.
In the aftermath, I experienced PTSD, systemic inflammation, joint pain, fatigue, and a level of physical and emotional depletion that changed everything.
What made that season even more difficult was how often my symptoms were misunderstood. Much of what I was experiencing was dismissed as emotional. I was prescribed medications and underwent procedures, but they did not address the deeper trauma my body was holding. Instead, many of those treatments left me feeling more tired, less clear, and increasingly disconnected from myself.
Still, I never gave up on the deeper calling I felt to become a therapist. In many ways, that experience reshaped the calling itself. I may have already had the content, but life gave me the context.
Over time, my own healing journey led me to explore a more integrative path. One that included functional medicine, holistic support, integrative nutrition, mindfulness, and Kundalini yoga. Little by little, I began to shift from simply trying to manage symptoms to truly nourishing my mind, body, and spirit.
That journey changed me.
While healing has not been perfect or linear, it has been real. Today, I live with more energy, clearer cognition, less pain, and a much deeper appreciation for life, connection, and what it means to care for ourselves in a whole-person way.
Flourish was born from that lived experience.
It was built from the belief that people deserve more than symptom management. They deserve to feel seen, supported, empowered, and connected to the possibility of real healing.
Behind everything we do at Flourish is the hope that those who feel overwhelmed, hopeless, or stuck can find a new way forward—and discover that healing, self-compassion, and lasting wellness are possible.
