Individual Therapy

Helping you build self awareness, resilience, coping skills, and practices that can sustain a sense of well-being in your everyday life.

Our bodies and minds are challenged daily to keep up with the demands placed on us in this modern world.

Everyone can benefit from building self awareness and being in a therapeutic relationship with an empathetic and objective professional so you do not feel alone in navigating challenges big and small.

Here are some reasons you may want to see a therapist:

1

You’ve gone through a significant life change

2

You’re feeling stuck in cycles of unhealthy behavior or thought patterns

3

You suspect that your life is being negatively affected by an experience you had in the past

4

You have a big or difficult decision to make

5

You are in an unhealthy relationship or have recently gone through a breakup

6

Your physical health is interfering with your mental health

7

You simply want to maintain your mental well-being

Flourish’s Holistic Approach

We don’t view you as a list of symptoms or diagnoses, but rather, as a whole person. It is our top priority to identify and sustainably treat the underlying causes of your mental health symptoms so that you can thrive. And since we spend real time with you, we get to know you, your story,, and can collaborate with you on your wellness journey.

Our licensed therapists assess your situation from a variety of angles, treating you as a unique individual while building a trusting therapeutic relationship.

Treatment methods used include:

  • Mindfulness-based interventions
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)
  • Interpersonal neurobiology
  • EMDR
  • Attachment theory
  • Self compassion
  • Sensorimotor – Somatic
  • Functional nutrition

Woven together, these treatment modalities will help you achieve healthy and mindful self-awareness so you are empowered with skills and tools to navigate the tough times with ease.

You are a human being, NOT a diagnosis

People experience anxiety, stress, and depression in different ways. Symptoms may interfere with your daily work or negatively impact important relationships.  Also, symptoms of anxiety or depression could be caused by certain chronic health conditions.

Have you been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder or major depressive disorder from  your primary care doctor?   Or have you labeled your own suffering as anxiety or depression?  The diagnostic label may help to temporarily soothe discomfort.  Additionally a medical professional will most likely prescribe a psychiatric medication and conveniently not inform you of the side effects.

A diagnosis, whether it’s from a professional or self-diagnosed, does not necessarily mean you will get better with targeted treatment.   What is missing from a diagnosis is your unique context and humanness.   For instance your background, lifestyle habits, environment and experiences describe your story.  Medication or talk therapy that does not consider your story is often not effective.

At Flourish, the full context of what you are experiencing is more important than the diagnosis. Getting to know you and your story helps us to consider the bigger picture.  We take time to differentiate symptoms, learn about your experiences and get familiar with your patterns.  All of this informs our treatment approach and is only possible if we look beyond a diagnostic label.

Spending time with a therapist for individual sessions on a weekly or bi-weekly basis builds a trusted therapeutic relationship.   This relationship can transform your awareness, perspective, experiences, and quality of life.
