My passion is helping adults and teenagers recognize their strengths and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities. I strive to create a warm, nurturing, nonjudgmental space that is inclusive and collaborative allowing us to explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.  As an EMDR therapist, I use evidence-based approaches, as well as humor and compassion, to work in partnership with you.  We will navigate life’s challenges, stressors, unwanted behaviors and past trauma together.   Joining in these challenges together can help you reach your full potential.

The power of being in the ‘here-and-now’ during therapy can help us connect your mind and body. Integrating mind and body can lead your nervous system to cultivate a sense of safety, openness, and resilience.  This connection can foster clarity and harmony within you.

Together, we will work on developing a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-compassion, empowering you to overcome obstacles and embrace life’s possibilities.

EMDR

For those of you that have experienced recent or past trauma, I bring in EMDR.  Research has shown EMDR can be effective to resolve recent or past traumas.   EMDR therapy can help your nervous system to calm amidst reminders of past painful experiences.

Experience

My 18 years working as a school counselor brings a deep understanding of the unique needs of adolescents.  Years of experience within a school environment can help adolescents validate and cope with social or academic challenges with school.   Additionally my experience can help parents understand how to navigate effectively work within the school environment.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors connecting with nature,  especially anything on or in the water.   Getting my hands dirty in the garden is also a lot of fun. These activities inspire the calm and balance I aim to bring into my practice. Spending time with my children, who are now on the verge of adulthood, is of great value to me (when they can fit me into their busy schedules)!

Walking alongside you on your journey toward growth and well-being feels like an honor to me.   Witnessing my clients grow and flourish is the best part of being a therapist.

I am accepting new clients in-person appointments in south Austin and for appointments.
